SIPPIC Project:

The SIPPIC project (Silicon For Integrated Crop Protection) is part of Ecophyto guidelines by proposing original biocontrol solutions, efficient and environmentally to fight against downy and powdery mildew. 
Supported by national and international major players in the natural protection of plants, the project aims to optimize silicon prophylactic effects against fungal diseases, whether used alone or in combination with other products. The impact of these specialties on the physiological parameters of the vine, protection against disease, quality of harvest, winemaking process and possible residues in the soil and wine are considered in order to offer favorable agronomic solutions for the grower, the consumer and the environment.

NEUROPHENOLS Project:

neurophenols

The human population is aging; the number of people over 65 years old is increasing steadily and will represent more than 16% of the world population in 2050, as compared to 7.5% in 2011 (source: National Institute of Demographic Studies, INED).
Aging comes with the onset of specific symptoms, including cognitive decline linked to brain aging. Age-related cognitive decline is characterized by a significant but non-pathological decline of cognitive functions including memory and alertness. In some cases, these symptoms can be precursors to Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, which, according to a report of the World Health Organization (WHO), represent more than 24 million people worldwide, out of nearly a billion suffering from neurological disorders. Due to the increasing number of elderly people, age-associated cognitive decline is a growing public health concern.
To deal with this situation, the scientific and industrial worlds are mobilizing. In parallel with medical research to find treatments against diseases linked to cognitive decline, innovative approaches, particularly in the field of food and nutrition, can participate in the "prevention" of seniors’ cognitive decline. In this context, awareness of the role of diet on cognitive health keeps growing, such as the scientific work carried out on the consumption of fish (Omega-3) or epidemiological studies on consumption of polyphenols. Thus, preliminary studies have highlighted the beneficial effects of some plant polyphenols on cognitive decline.

BIOEXTRA Project:

copeauxThe objective of this project is the extraction of bioactive substances from pulp wood residue, currently a major waste product from the paper industry. The extracts are being tested for their potential as beneficial natural extracts for the cosmetic and the perfume industries as antioxidants and natural antimicrobial compounds. Green products (packaging formulation and composite) would also be developed for the food industry, wood construction protection, paper, and other functionalized composites.

The multiple partners in this project include: Biolandes, the Centre Technique du Papier, the FCBA (Institut Technologique Forêt Cellulose Bois Ameublement), Smurfitt-Kappa Cellulose du Pin, Tembec R&D, Polyphénols Biotech, Georgia-Pacific and the ENSIACET (Toulouse). This project has been certified by the competitiveness clusters XYLOFUTUR (Aquitaine), AGRIMIP (Midi-Pyrénées), Fibres Grand-Est (Alsace-Lorraine) and AXELERA (Lyon).

 

PRUN'ACTIV Project:

 

pruneauThe effect of Agen’s prune consumption on metabolic diseases has just begun in collaboration with Maître Prunille, the Bureau Interprofessionnel du Pruneau, Berkem, Polyphenols Biotech, INRA (Theix) and Bordeaux 2 University. This study is being undertaken by Nutratech Conseils and is supported by the French governement and the Aquitaine region, with a budget of 3.3 million Euros (with 750 000 Euros for a clinical trial). The cost and the scale of this research project demonstrate a new emphasis given to classical agro-food industry. This project has been certified by the competitiveness cluster Prod’Innov in Aquitaine.
